The aim of the study is to present the influence of amphetamine on the functioning of a living organism. Amphetamine is a very popular drug consumed in order to improve the body efficiency. Currently it has been proscribed in Poland, but in many countries around the world, including the United States, amphetamine is used in the treatment of certain diseases. Taking amphetamines may cause a variety of behavioural, hormonal or psychological effects. On the one hand there are euphoria and improvement of memory, but on the other psychosis and exhaustion of the body that can lead even to death. These effects depend on the dose and frequency of taking this psychostymulant. Due to a significant social problem associated with amphetamine addiction, there is a number of articles dealing with this issue. This work presents a brief overview of the literature on this problem.
