Ocena jakości usług opiekuńczo leczniczych dokonana przez pacjentów psychiatrycznego lecznictwa zamkniętego

Abstract

The quality of medical services, including services in the area of psychiatric hospital care is a very important issue, affecting functioning of medical services market. The aim of the study is the evaluation of nursing and treatment services’ quality, that were provided in psychiatric hospitals. For that reason, patients staying in Regional Psychiatric Hospital in Gdansk were asked about their satisfaction from medical and nursing services provided in this facility. The research tool used in this study was an anonymous questionnaire, including 49 questions. Seven questions considered information about the patient – sex, age, level of education etc, the rest of them the most important issues considering quality of services. The first part of the survey included questions about staying on the hospital ward – admission to hospital, social conditions and contacts with medical personnel. The second part of the survey was devoted to accessibility of information that was guaranteed for patients and considering such issues like diagnosis, treatment options and progress in treatment. The third part referred to organizational matters connected with leaving the ward by the patient after finishing treatment. The survey was ended with questions about personal data.

The research carried out in order to write this paper and other studies in the subject of medical services’ quality have shown that patients tend to give positive opinions about medical and nursing services provided in psychiatric hospitals. Among factors that negatively influence the quality of services is insufficient information provided to patients about health, treatment options and the risks of treatment undertaken.
