Abstract

The goal of the study was determining the frequency of appearance and the kind of injuries amongst tennis players from a Student Sport Club in Łomża.

The study included sixty tennis players from a Student Sport Club „Return” in Łomża. The group comprised children and teenagers aged 10-18, training tennis as competitors or in the form of recreation.

For the purpose of the study a questionnaire form was used. It contained questions concerning personal details, burdens of tennis trainings and other forms of sport activity as well as questions providing information about experienced injuries.
It was stated that sports injuries are more characteristic for tennis players training tennis as competitors. Joints like the wrist joint, hip joint, elbow joint and ankle joint are most exposed to damage. However, the risk of injury is definitely smaller in recreational players. In this group training tennis is contributing to the promotion of health and harmonious development of the young organism.

Apart from that, the study also distinguished parts of the body that are most exposed to different sport injuries.
