Abstract

This publication is dedicated to disorders of consciousness. This subject is not often discussed in Polish scientific literature, however, due to a significant number of errors in diagnosis seems to be very important. This work aims to explain briefly diagnostic criteria for coma, vegetative state and minimally consciousness state. The article also shows the most commonly used clinimetric scales and neuroimaging methods to assess these patients. In the text there is also report a from The 21st meeting of the European Neurological Society where attention was drawn to the need to amend change in the terminology of disorders of consciousness.
