Abstract
Endometrial cancer is the most common cancer of the female genital organs in developed countries. In Poland in 2011, the 5252 women were diagnosed with this cancer, and 1085 died becouse of it. Over 80% of patients with cancer of the lining of the uterus are postmenopausal women. Approximately 90% of patients with endometrial cancer have only symptomatic bleeding or abnormal vaginal discharge. We presented a case of a 56 year old female patient with irregular, very profuse bleeding from genitals and secondary anemia during perimenopause. Initially, the patient was suggested to mitigate the above-mentioned symptoms with an intrauterine device. After the insertion of the IUD for about two years the patient observed small, temporary staining. After this time, she bled profusely. The IUD was removed as its movement was suspected. In spite of heavy bleeding from genitals the patient was still treated with hormones. After about nine months it was decided to collect some material for diagnosis. Fractionated curettage of the uterus revealed adenocarcinoma endometroides endometrii G1.
