Abstract

The team working seems to be an underestimated subject in medical profession research. Effective co-operation of the therapeutic team is associated with the satisfaction of employees, but also with higher quality of patient care. The goal of this paper was to present common team roles among medical students and to analyse differences. The study involved a group of 140 medical students from Medical University of Gdansk, Poland from two different departments, studying in Polish language and English language (English Division, students from abroad). The study reveals that medical students as co-workers are focused on the individual aspect of work. Communicative skills and ability to cooperate are the area of deficit in both research groups. Polish students have a tendency to cautiousness associated with lower creativity. Meanwhile English speaking students develop a great tendency to act. It seems that more developed social skills training is needed during medical education.
