Abstract

Many studies have shown that a variety of psychological stressors may induce release of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, TNF-alpha) (Dhabhar et al. 1996). This can be manifested in cytokinesis, and may depend on the type of stress. Studies involving the immobilization of animals cause the increase in the three proinflammatory cytokines, whereas only isolation and open-field test induce an increase in IL-6 levels in the blood. The article aims to provide an analysis of the open field test as one of the most popular models of experimental and pleiotropic nature of IL-6.
