Abstract

The susceptibility of 127 anaerobic strains, isolated from venous blood of 65 patients who underwent oral surgical interventions, to the following antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents was examined: amoxicillin with clavulanic acid, ampicillin with sulbactam, piperacillin with tazobactam, imipenem, cephoxitin, cephuroxime, cephtriaxone, cephtazidime, erythromycin, clindamycin, doxycyclin, metronidazole and tynidazole. Gram-negative anaerobes showed the highest susceptibility to piperacillin with tazobactam, imipenem, metronidazole, tinidazole and amoxicillin with clavulanic acid. They showed the lowest susceptibility to erythromycin and cephalosporines. Gram-positive anaerobes were characterized by the highest susceptibility to amoxicillin with clavulanic acid, ampicillin with sulbactam, piperacillin with tazobactam, imipenem and clindamycin and were much less susceptible to cephalosporines.
