Audiometria odpowiedzi wywołanych pnia mózgu u chorych na stwardnienie rozsiane

Abstract

Aim of the study: The aim was evaluation of usefulness of objective investigations: auditory brainstem responses – ABR and subjective investigations: tonal audiometry in the diagnosis of sclerosis multiplex.
Materials and methods: The material was 20 subjects, 23-64 year old treated for multiple sclerosis in the Neurology Department Medical University of Gdańsk. The subjects were in different stages of the disease. The audiologic tests were correlated with magnetic resonance imaging – MRI.
Results: In 5 (25%) subjects incorrect results of ABR, mainly concerned with wave V were stated. In these subjects radiological changes were stated in MRI.
Conclusions: The stated results confirmed the usefulness of applied objective and subjective methods of hearing investigations in patients with sclerosis multiplex as accesory investigation in this disease.
