Abstract
Lung cancer is one of the most common malignancies, and thus one of the most significant challenges in modern society. The aim of lung cancer screening program is to detect the largest number of lung cancer accidents in the stage, which allows radical treatment. Between January and May 2009, 2599 people registered for the Pilot Pomeranian Lung Cancer Screening Program. Two thousand and two individuals underwent low dose spiral computer tomography examination. Diagnostic opinion poll and the analysis of medical documentation were performed. The evaluation of the Pilot Pomeranian Lung Cancer Screening Program concerned the period of time from January to May 2009. Nine hundred eighty two people out of 2002 examined, were diagnosed to have nodules in lung parenchyma. The majority of participants are being clinically observed. Recently, 73 patients have been diagnosed in the Department of Thoracic Surgery Medical University’s of Gdansk and 17 patients underwent surgery.
