Abstract

The article presents current legal regulations in Poland in tobacco control law in the context of the spread of the tobacco epidemic and its effects on both public health and the health of individuals. Scientific evidence confirms that the use of the tobacco products and exposure to tobacco smoke are the cause of death, disease and disability. There is a causal relationship between exposure to tobacco smoke or another use of tobacco and tobacco-related disease onset. The authors wonder whether the law, especially after the changes introduced by the amendment of April 8, 2010, is an effective tool to support the struggle for smoke free space.
