Abstract

The introduction of the study briefly describes the importance of music and its impact on each person. The aim of the work is to present the opinion of medical staff about the impact of music therapy on hospice patients. The research method is a diagnostic survey, the chosen technique – a questionnaire survey.

Section I defines the concept of music therapy. Theoretical directions and forms of music therapy are discussed. The treatment and choice of musical material, as well as the issue of music in medicine are presented. Section II discusses the meaning of the word hospice. It presents the nursing problems of the patients in palliative care and shows the aspect of music for the chronically and terminally ill. It also indicates the study of physiological responses under the influence of music. Section III presents the development of methodology: aim, research problems, selected methods and research techniques. In Section IV the results of the study are presented in the form of statistics. It has been confirmed that music therapy has an effect on solving nursing problems in hospice patients. Music is a very important therapeutic method, which is worth applying in hospice care. It was proven that music therapy is used in hospices, however it is not very popular.
