Abstract
The paper described the curriculum vitae of an important German paediatrician, Prof. Alfred Adam, who very successfully worked in Gdańsk for 16 years (1929-1945). Because of his opposition to racist, nationalsocialist-healthpolitics, above all sterilisation and euthanasia, in 1938 Adam, as director of Pediatric Clinic of Medical Academy in Gdańsk was dismissed and harassed. Nevertheless, he stayed in Gdańsk and did not change his opinion. After the war Adam was director of Pediatric Clinic of University in Erlangen (Germany), which he extended and modernized.
