Abstract

The aim of this project was aesthetic evaluation of all-ceramic prosthodontic dentures.

The material included 54 questionnaires containing questions about the patients` opinion on aesthetics of their dentures and 10 spectrophotometric pictures of 5 chosen cases. The first method of aesthetic evaluation was the patients` opinion from the questionnaire. The second method was an instrumental one based on spectrophotometric measurement with the use of Shadepilot (Degudent). Full-Shade Analysis of colour was performed.

Results of the questionnaire investigations obtained from 54 patients have shown that 81% of dentures fulfilled the conditions concerning shape and colour in a very satisfactory way. The remaining patients (17%) defined the way of treatment as satisfactory. Analysis of number values in three schematically assigned parts of prosthodontic crowns in comparison to natural patient`s tooth presents differences in number values of colour (dE) and lumen (dL).

The all-ceramic prosthodontic dentures made in modern prosthetic technology are aesthetically satisfactory reconstruction of the tooth, both in shape and colour. The instrumental methods of colour selection are a helpful and precise element in dental prosthetic practice.
